What is the meet schedule like?

Meet schedule’s will be linked and posted as soon as they are available. All track meets are “rolling”, which means once the meet starts, there’s no way to determine the exact start time of a subsequent event.

The length of a meet depends on the number of participants, the number of heats for each event and how quickly the timer is able to reset in between races. As a general rule of thumb, the first five events should be at the meet no later than half an hour before the start time, to adequately warm up. Every other event should be there no later than an hour after the start time, unless otherwise directed.

What do we need to participate this season?

Once your registration form and fees are sent in, you are all set! You just need to show up with a positive attitude and a willingness to run.

Please remember to bring water to practice and to track meets. Whether it’s hot or cold, your muscles need to stay hydrated.

A comfortable pair of running shoes is recommended. My personal favorites are Hoka One One, On and Asics. Spikes are not required, but an athlete’s preference if they want to use them. Please note, most tracks will not allow spikes longer than 1/4 of an inch.

Layer up, too. Utah weather can be unpredictable, so you’ll want to keep your muscles warm when resting. It’s always a good idea to have a pair of sweats with you, especially for track meets.

How will you communicate a delay or cancelled practice?

All communication will be sent via email. As a general rule of thumb, practices and meets will continue as usual even in the rain and snow. There will be a delay or cancellation if the temperature drops below freezing, conditions are icy or there is lightning. If that is the case, please be on the lookout for an email.

At this time, our program is a Spring only season, aligning to the national USATF schedule. We typically start practice in late-April, and run through early-June. Exact dates of practices and meets are weather dependent, and typically not available until March prior to the season.

Is there a fall season as well?
